ABOUT ME

Peace & Love!

Mychal Mills was born and raised in Neptune Township, NJ.  Mychal pursued his secondary education at Monmouth University graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Business Management and Master of Business Administration.  Mychal is a Co-Founder of Konscious Youth Development & Service.  He has prior experience working at the FoodBank, Boys & Girls Club of Monmouth County and other community initiatives.  Mychal spends most of his extracurricular time as a mentor and giving his energy back to the community.

Mychal’s involvement in community evolved as a student at Monmouth University.  He initiated many community projects such as sustainable business projects, life skills programs at the Boys & Girls Club, and a community radio station focused on fostering solutions.   As president of Monmouth University’s SIFE (Students In Free Enterprise) in 2011, he led a mission trip to Uganda, Africa in partnership with Monmouth University and Jersey Shore University Medical Center.  The mission focused on healthcare, economic development, and nutrition living with HIV/AIDS.  This humbling experience helped develop a perspective of gratitude for vulnerable communities, locally and globally.

As Food Sourcing Supervisor at the FoodBank of Monmouth & Ocean Counties, Mychal has increased the efficiency of the store donation program growing it from 400,000 pounds to 2.8 million pounds of food in three years.  He is responsible for all incoming food logistics for the FoodBank.  Mychal served as a JET (Junior Entrepreneur Training) mentor and director for a total of four years.  The program teaches entrepreneurship to middle school aged youth in Asbury Park by helping them develop and launch micro-businesses while learning life-long skills such as team building, improved communication skills (including public speaking).

In 2014, Mychal co-founded Konscious Youth Development & Service (KYDS) with soul brother Rodney Salomon.  The mission is to prepare and create future leaders through holistic intervention by focusing on the body, mind and soul.  Last year, KYDS partnered with 13 school districts impacting over 3,000 youth throughout Monmouth and Ocean Counties.  The organization offers eight free community programs on a monthly basis.   The growth of the organization is a direct reflection of his personal journey of creating inner peace and balance.  Mychal believes youth development is more sustainable through internal development building tools of love and compassion from within that are transferable in any life situation.

Mychal first crossed paths with yoga as a college student in 2011.  After an indifferent experience, he didn’t return to yoga until 4 years later.  In 2015, Mychal began to practice meditate and yoga on a routine basis.  Meditation / Yoga practice has been a significant part of Mychal’s journey helping him discover the depths of his inner-being.  Today, he practices many tools including yoga, meditation and sound energy to help him evolve physically, mentally and spiritually.

Mychal found poetry during his early childhood.  Since, he has developed as a poet and spoken word artist.  In 2018, Mychal released his first book of poetry, Journey Inn.  He has featured at several poetry readings along the Jersey Shore.  His words are a reflection of his soul and journey in life.

Mychal’s heart and passion align with his ability to achieve success.
